Chairmanship

In principle, the term of office is limited to a two-year period commencing with the handover at the biannual Ministerial Consultation and ending at the next Ministerial Consultation.

The country that is the Chair-in-Office of the Colombo Process sets out an agenda for its Chairmanship, represents and acts on behalf of the Colombo Process in relevant global and regional events, and hosts Senior Officials’ Meetings (SOMs) and the Ministerial Meeting.

At the Geneva level, the Permanent Representative to the UN of the Chair-in-Office country coordinates and facilitates a regular dialogue among the representatives of the Colombo Process Member States on issues mandated by SOMs and the Ministerial Meeting.
