Representatives of overseas employment agencies from nine Asian countries have agreed to form an Alliance of Asian Associations of Overseas Employment Service Providers, which will promote ethical and professional recruitment practices.
The newly established alliance, established in Manila last week, consists of representatives of the national associations of recruitment/employment agencies in Bangladesh , China , Indonesia , Nepal , Pakistan , Philippines , Sri Lanka , Thailand and Vietnam . IOM will serve as the association's secretariat.

The alliance will connect human resources in Asia to the rest of the world and contribute to the development of countries of origin and destination, while living up to core values of professionalism, equity, service to humanity, integrity, trust, honesty, passion and fairness, according to Victor Fernandez of the Philippine Association of Service Exporters, Inc., who was appointed as the first chairman of the group and tasked with drafting an action plan.
The initiative was organized under the European Commission-funded AENEAS programme - the Regional Dialogue and Programme on Facilitating Legal Migration between Asia and the European Union.
AENEAS aims to develop legal migration opportunities and enhance regional dialogue and cooperation in facilitating managed migration from Asia to the European Union, while reducing irregular flows. |
